Based on the stories and illustrations of Johnny Gruelle, Raggedy Ann first came to life as a doll in 1915 and in a volume of tales by Gruelle in 1918. Created for his daughter, Marcella, the cheerfully smiling rag doll was inducted into the National Toy Hall of Fame in 2002 (along with her brother and best friend, raggedy andy) and even has her own museum in Arcola, IL.

A classic costuming choice for decades, there are Raggedy Ann costumes to fit adults, children, and even babies. Complete with a blue polka-dotted dress with an attached white pinafore apron, the costume also comes with striped red-and-white socks, and a red, yard wig with attached white cap. Pick up some red cream makeup to decorate your face just like sweet Raggedy Ann's with two triangles on your cheeks.

For a less classical approach, Tragedy Ann costumes are available. A slightly more gothed-out "cousin" to Raggedy Ann, the Tragedy Ann costume comes with a black off-the-shoulder short flouncy dress that is "polka dotted" with little white skulls beneath a white apron. Also included are red-and-black striped thigh highs and a black yarn wig to be worn beneath the included grey cap.
