irish History & Costumes

On March 17th, everyone's Irish! Whether your heritage comes from the land of the Emerald Isles or not, St. Patrick's Day is celebrated on at least two continents with green beer, good whiskey, and some ham and cabbage as a chaser to all the fun!

If you're headed to a St. Patty's Day shin-dig at a friend's house, traveling with a mob on a whirlwind pub tour, or watching or taking part in a St. Patrick's Day parade, deck yourself out in your finest greenery to celebrate the day.

For a classic look that's appropriate for a renaissance Faire, too, dress as an Irish Lass in a costume with billowy sleeves and an alluringly cinched emerald green bodice with full, flared skirt. This look pairs mighty nicely with a tankard of Guinness!

If you're looking for something more modern, go for the classic leprechaun look and kick up your heels with a fully-costumed jig with a number of flashy ensembles.

To keep it low-key and still (sham)rock some green, try a green t-shirt proclaiming your Irish heritage or even a cool Irish trucker or baseball hat with some green, shamrock shaped sunglasses!
