dracula History & Costumes

Some traditions never die. No matter how many stakes you may try to drive through his undead little heart, the most infamous vampire of all, Dracula, is a classic costuming choice, rooted in ancient folklore and modern folklore. Sinister and scary while still being seductive and sexy, Bram Stoker's gothic anti-hero affords a wide variety of costume options.

Go for the most widely-recognized look in the style of Bela Lugosi's interpretation of Dracula. Included is a long, black panne velvet cape with stand-up collar; a white shirt with attached white, satin vest, and a large medallion suspended from a thick strip of red velvet. Compliment the look with fake blood and plastic fangs along with pale, white makeup to give that fresh-from-the-coffin palor!

An unexpected, but impressive choice is the Vlad the Impaler costume. The real-life Transylvanian warlord known for his startling cruelty, Vlad Tepes, also known as Vlad Dracula was the historical basis for Bram Stoker's fictional vampire. The Vlad Dracula costume comes complete with a rich, red velour jacket that falls to knee length, trimmed in regal, brown faux fur and a matching hat, adorned with a gold, jeweled emblem. Also included is a black, faux-leather belt with black boot covers lined with brown faux fur. Add your own long, curly brown wig and a spirit-gum beard to complete this fearsome costume.
